Snow White
03:50
|
|
||
It came from God to help me wonder
Took my soul to an ancient home
You held me there with bottle caps and fingers cold
And held me with my metal bones
Mother laid me down in snow white
And told me not to wonder at why
Slept for days like I was dying
Took my soul to an ancient home
I can’t help but wonder
Where we’re going and then
You stopped by to help me realize
It was you
See you through
Slept from day to day in wonder
Guessing at the shapes that I left behind
Trip and leave me with all the answers
To the questions too far out of my sight
Lips locked away and shut in vault rooms
Clothes tied to all the wandering minds
No words to leave the trembling fortress
But sounds to joke and wonder at why
[Chorus]

Prologue
02:59
|
|
||
A man who knows how to swiftly build islands
Is alone and consoled by his still skies
He leads a life of many small smiles
And slight nods accompanied by quiet eyes
When it rains
His glass fills with water
And he drinks slow drops
To feel their decline
And his porch swing groans from years of waiting
To test his bridge
And tickle the vine
He treks light through great fields of sorrow
And he finds great rocks by jagged thunder
Well he picks one up simply to borrow
His skin torn, and blood it trickled under
He trips on trains and bridges build quickly
Skies they shake and rattle out loud
Warm and torn the sweat treats his skin
Smiles flash forth kind eyes they cloud
When it rains
his glass leaks with water
And he sees slow drops
To watch their decline
And his porch swing breaks from continual waiting
Of unloved bridge
And numb unfeeling vine

Blankets and Rivers
04:55
|
|
||
He is a river and he runs cold.
I stood above his crying form,
And I watched him die.
Then she cradled water in her arms.
He called for blankets and huddled in close,
But those were cold too.
Fire is warm just a bitter old man--
Or a temptress at best.
Oh, his hands they do harm.
But she knows that stories they are all told;
Simply pages of words.
An unlikely band of brothers in arms
Breaking brittle old bones.
Fire pushed through and burst the veins
Deep down in blood ridden arms.
The clots formed with speed more like an ox.
They rushed in on dreaded three four time
Dropping powerful stones.
Then fire, she grew out from oxen mad arms
And ran through his veins in a pulse of contempt
And she set him ablaze.
Fire sat burning lives the rest of his time.
His thighs all rash ridden red
Drinking hate from his can.
But he knows that poems they are all sad
All jumbled and sound.
And arms are just twigs from tindering trees that are never in bloom
Then ice reached his heart and stopped him dead in
His blood ridden form.

Lion's Jaw
04:00
|
|
||
Tracking the prints that it left
On the porous pages in ink.
“Love isn’t soft. Love has teeth,
which bite and the wounds never close.”
How long can we dance round this beast
Before her jaws re-open
The wounds of your negligence from the threat
Of this beast so close behind
Bobby-pins where you left them
Further away than we thought
“Love isn’t soft. Love has teeth,
Which bite and the wounds never close.”
We dance round the teeth of this beast
Laughing to mask our knowledge
Of its prowess although your hands they do hold
Insides of the wounds she left
The mother with the lion’s jaw
She lurks behind as we sleep
All the while we dream
Of her sharp and blood thirsty teeth
She gnaws on our bones in the spring
Closing the gaps with the ancient
Times that we shared and even though our cares
Were thrown out with lonely tones
Treacherous love is a must
for future it cannot be told
kinks in the folds of your arms
scars that are bleeding and bold
Teach me your traitorous ways
‘Cause hurting is sweeter than springtime
Beautiful blood as it trickles and hugs my eyes
“Love isn’t soft. Love has teeth
Which bite and the wounds never close”
Mapping their skin with fingertips
Tracing their thoughts in ink
But maps, they can be burnt
And words misconstrued
She sharpens her claws behind them
And licks the blood from her fur

Sleepy Dreamer
03:30
|
|
||
Sleeping in dreams from colors of you
When I’m awake my breath is untrue
But if I had a ghost He would cut me in two
And when I am dreaming neither hurts my hue
Ambling thoughts down constructed reams
Women walk soft cross wrought iron beams
Because what I say goes, but we know that’s not true
I will always be old, but I will never be gone with the new
You told me
That I was to dream
You slept and crept
And I was supposed to gleam
So lend me your thoughts
And keep your sad dreams
I want your actuality and realism schemes
Pull the wool down
Over my sorrow thoughts
Leave me here and
I will never learn to burn off
To corners to dream of soft summer days
Leaping from cliffs to clouds and dull haze
My limbs they will fall faster than my mind
The stop will not kill me but rather that I’ve gone blind
You told me
That I was to dream
And my tears were sown and stained
For your relief
So I will not dream
‘Cause I want you not
My pillows are hard and damp
And full of solid rot
But I keep your eyes
So safe by my side
And I’m glued to you
So you will not have to bind

Remapped
01:52
|
|
||
Structured fallacies
Out for space
Far from harbor
There is water
He’s not there
We jumped through
Water like glass
Walls built, remapped what he was
Run round and only find
This frightened face
Sketched all fierce
Lines for tears had dried away
Oh, live you’re everything taken
Gifts for you wrong and broken
Fragile shells and mirrors break from around
We put down our heads
To sleep and your own dreams

1863 Selma
05:06
|
|
||
I ran all barefoot out the door
To wooden porch floors
It was cold and stormy dark
With lightning moaning all around
Washed up on the shore alone and cold
Were poor lost grains
Of lovely ancient sands
Oh, they were running from the light
Looking for some sweet, loving warm embrace to ease their woe
They clung together stones
And sank so far below the waves
Down there they sang and danced their bones
Cheating death with bottles of charm
Bleeding from their safe secluded reigns
Pushing forceful ever-forth
Trembling tender leaves from wind worn limbs
And willow torn breeze
The smoke, it came before
And left them floating far away
So slowly sank below to join the grains
And raise them up
On creeping newborn limbs
From seeds of loving, seeds of light
[Chorus]
Above the sea they claimed and island new
They danced and sang
Let go of all their bones and clinging stones
They threw their bottles to the waves
[Chorus]
